How to sync your iPhone with MULTIPLE google calendars

Here’s one that took me ages and ages to work out, so I hope you find it helpful. When I first set up my google calendar on my iPhone, only one google calendar was being shown. I use my google calendar at work, my colleagues share their calendars with me and we all know who’s available when, it’s great - but only my default calendar was being synced.

I’ll describe the whole process here, it really is very simple, if you know how.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Click Add Account…
  4. Choose Other
  5. Choose Add CalDav Account
  6. Enter the following:
    - Server: www.google.com
    - User Name: Your google account user name (in my case that’s my gmail address)
    - Password: Your google account password
    - Description: Up to you, this will be for you to identify the account, I entered google

Ok.. and that’s when you’d think you’d be done, but no, there’s one more step.

To sync multiple calendars, point ANY web browser (can be on your computer or on your iPhone) to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect. On this page you’ll see a list of all the calendars you have set up in google calendar, including any calendars that are shared with you. Simply check the ones you want to sync to your iPhone calendar.

And that’s it, you’re done. Your calendars now sync both ways and you can pick which calendar you publish to when creating your calendar entry on your iPhone. Naturally you can only enter events for calendars you have publish/edit rights for, this is configured in the google settings. It really works just as expected.

This will only work for iOS 3.0 users and above by the way.

Finally, thanks to online-tech-tips.com for writing this article and to Joel for leaving the comment in the thread that eventually pointed me to this google support thread that provides the instructions.

Glad it helped. Not sure why you’d want to have Arsenal’s fixtures on your phone, but hey, whatever rocks your trolley :) Forca Barça!
    Thanks for your comment.
